Chemical Synthesis (CS) Editorial Office congratulates the Youth Editorial Board member Professor Feng Shi for being promoted to an Editorial Board member. We are honored to take the opportunity to reflect on Prof. Shi's achievements this year. Prof. Shi was appointed as a member of the Youth Editorial Board of the journal in 2021. She was keen on engaging in academic activities to promote the development of the journal and made outstanding contributions from 2021 to 2022. She has organized a Special Issue with the topic “Celebrating the 45th Anniversary of Changzhou University - Applications and Future Prospects of Asymmetric Organic Catalysis” and invited many high-quality manuscripts.

Moreover, the paper entitled “A breakthrough in 2-indolyl methanol-involved organocatalytic asymmetric reactions” was popular with readers and was one of the highest-cited papers published in CS. She also actively promoted the journal at academic conferences, such as EurJOC-Changzhou University 2023 Organic Chemistry Conference. She has made significant contributions to the rapid development of CS. Given these contributions, the Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Bao-Lian Su, and the Editorial Board unanimously decided to take this opportunity to announce the promotion of Feng Shi to serve as an Editorial Board member of the section “Asymmetric Catalysis and Organic Synthesis”. Congratulations to Prof. Shi again, and looking forward to receiving further support and guidance from Prof. Shi in future work!

Introduction of Professor Feng Shi

Prof. Feng Shi received her bachelor's degree and master's degree from Jiangsu Normal University in 1998 and 2004, respectively. She received her Ph.D. degree in 2013 at Soochow University and the University of Science and Technology of China under the joint supervision of Prof. Shu-Jiang Tu and Prof. Liu-Zhu Gong. During this period, Prof. Shi spent half a year working as a visiting scholar in the group of Prof. Teck-Peng Loh at Nanyang Technological University. She started her independent career in 2013 and was appointed a Full Professor at Jiangsu Normal University in 2015. In addition, she was appointed as a Distinguished Professor at Changzhou University in 2022.

Her research interests focus on organocatalytic asymmetric reactions for constructing chiral heterocyclic frameworks, particularly the construction of chiral indole-based scaffolds. She has published more than 130 papers as a corresponding author in peer-reviewed international journals, such as Acc. Chem. Res.J. Am. Chem. Soc.Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.Fund. Res.Sci. China Chem.Chin. J. Chem.ACS Catal.Org. Lett.Chem. Commun. She was selected as the Elsevier “2021 & 2022 Highly Cited Chinese Researcher”. She is supported by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and received the Outstanding Youth Funds of Jiangsu Province. She has received some awards and honors such as the Natural Science Award of Jiangsu Province, the NHU-CJC Innovation Award, the Thieme Chemistry Journal Award, and the Asian Core Program Lectureship Award.

CS Editorial Board is looking forward to more outstanding young scholars actively participating in the development of the journal and jointly promoting the further development of the field of chemical synthesis.
